Tentative November Meeting Friday, November 13, 2020 (also via Zoom)

General instructions on how this will work – with emphasis on Breakout Rooms

You will join the Zoom meeting just like any other Zoom Meeting.  You are highly encouraged to be on a video device and to have your name reflect your real name.  One of the main goals of OTDMUG is to facilitate comradery and connections between MPO, ODOT and Consultant staff.  Therefore, this meeting has several “Breakout Room” sessions.

When you join the Zoom meeting, Rebekah will make you a Co-Leader.  This will allow you to move between whatever Breakout Rooms you would like to join.

Breakout Rooms are as follows:

  • Small MPO stuff – This is where small MPO staff can meet and talk to other small MPO staff and associated ODOT staff.
  • Large MPO stuff – This is where larger MPO staff can meet and talk to other large MPO staff and associated ODOT staff.
  • Modeling/Technical – This is where you can talk to other people about the presentations or if you just want to “talk shop” in general.
  • Small Group 1 – This is a general room.  You can chat/message someone and say “hey, meet me in SG1 so we can catch up.”  Anyone can use this room.
  • Small Group 2 – See above.
  • Sports/Beverages – If you just want to chat with other people about sports (or the lack thereof) and beverages or anything else of the sort.
  • Weather/Other – This is another room like the one above, where you are assured that the topic will be fun and generally non-technical.  You might want to check in and see how your colleagues are handling the home-schooling scene.

RULES

The goal is to foster connections!!  OTDMUG officers have worked very hard to ensure that we can continue this goal.  You are very strongly encouraged to attend at the very minimum until 1:15pm.  This meeting is scheduled until 2pm.  Remember, you used to have to drive.

During Breakout Room sessions, Rebekah will open the Breakout Rooms.  Unfortunately, Zoom requires that you are assigned to a Breakout Room to start with.  You will be assigned to a random room (or perhaps to Weather, whatever is easiest for Rebekah).  After that, you are able to move to whatever room you would like to move to.  You will be able to see who is in that room after you join.  (I can’t recall if you can see who is in that room before you join.)  You can always chat/message a specific person and ask them to meet you in a specific room.  That’s what those Small Group rooms are for.  Or, they can just be extra Sports/Beverage or Weather/Other rooms.  There are no rules for those two – could be technical, could be family related.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME IN EVERY ROOM AT ALL TIMES!!!  That is to say, Consultants are welcome in MPO rooms, and large MPO staff can chat with small MPO staff in the small MPO room at any time.  You are welcome and wanted in every room at any given time.  Seriously, we want you to chat with us!!  You will make Rebekah and many others very, very sad if you skip the Breakout Room time.  You are encouraged to randomly join a room and then join in on the discussion.  Just like you would at the meeting.

Feel free to have your tea/coffee and bagel/doughnut in the morning.  You are encouraged to get your lunch for the lunch breakout session.  If you take off from work at 1pm, feel free to have a happy hour beverage with you (and give its review in the Sports/Beverages room)!  If you have any questions or would like to try out the technology beforehand, send Rebekah an email and she will answer or make a trial meeting for those that want to try it out in advance.
